On 21 October 2025, the 9th Regional Assembly Middle East (RAME) Freight Group meeting took place at the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) Fenerbahçe facilities in Istanbul. The session brought together representatives from the RAME member railways to discuss ongoing and future activities and projects in the freight sector.

As a key outcome, the participants agreed to continue preparing a workshop on regional customs practices, with the objective of preparing a plan for harmonisation to increase operational efficiency and support stronger connections with global corridors, such as the Middle Corridor.

The group also underlined the importance of maintaining more frequent and smaller-format meetings to accelerate progress and stay aligned with business priorities. Furthermore, the members agreed to explore opportunities for an additional session focused on the Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID) and the transport of dangerous goods, either within the UIC framework or as a regionally focused activity.

These initiatives mark an important step in enhancing rail coordination and interoperability in the RAME region.
