The Integrated Passenger-Centric Planning of Multimodal Transport Networks (MultiModX) project has published the report from its 2nd MultiModX Workshop, marking a further milestone in advancing seamless air-rail integration. The report is now available on the project’s official website at multimodx.eu.

Aligned with the objectives of the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, the MultiModX project focuses on enhancing strategic multimodal mobility solutions by enhancing cooperation between air and rail networks. The latest workshop, held on 12 November 2024 at FS Technologies headquarters in Rome, brought together over 30 industry experts to evaluate early project outcomes and refine innovative transport solutions.

The discussions centered around three key areas:

  • Scenario development and performance assessment: Analysing multimodal transport scenarios to ensure efficient passenger journeys.
  • Alignment of flight and rail schedules: Addressing synchronization challenges from the perspectives of rail operators, airlines, and passengers.
  • Disruption management and tactical performance assessment: Enhancing resilience and responsiveness in multimodal transport systems.

By leveraging real-time engagement tools, the workshop participants played an active role in shaping the next phases of the research and innovation (R&I) cycle. Their valuable feedback ensures that MultiModX solutions are well-suited to future implementation.

The report concludes with key takeaways from the discussions and outlines the next steps in the project’s development. Supported by the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking (Grant Agreement No. 101114815), the MultiModX project remains committed to driving innovation in multimodal mobility, with a strong focus on passenger-centric solutions.

The MultiModX consortium extends its gratitude to all of the participants for their contribution, and looks forward to continuing the partnership. To stay updated on developments and future workshops, visit multimodx.eu or follow the project on LinkedIn and X.
