On 3 December 2025, the 25th UIC Africa Regional Assembly (ARA) held in Rabat appointed two Vice-Chairs for the region.

Congratulations to Saeid Meelad, Chairman of Libyan Railroads, and Cheikh Ibrahima Ndiaye, Director General of SEN-TER, Senegal.

In his speech during the ARA, Ndiaye stated that it was with honour, gratitude, and a sense of great responsibility that he accepted his appointment as Vice-Chair of the UIC Africa Region.

“Together, we will continue to promote rail transport in Africa and worldwide to effectively respond to current and future challenges related to mobility and sustainable development,” he said.

Unable to attend the meeting in person, Meelad formally expressed his heartfelt thanks in writing to all UIC Africa members for their confidence and trust, affirming his commitment to, “Strengthening regional cooperation, promoting sustainable railway development, and enhancing the role of African railways within the international railway community”.
