The UIC Passenger Department is pleased to announce that the 9th edition of the UIC training course on Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS) will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 28 to 30 October 2026.

Over the years, the CRTS training course has become one of UIC’s flagship capacity-building programmes, bringing together railway professionals, transport authorities, academics, and industry representatives from around the world. The programme offers a unique platform to share knowledge, explore international best practices, and discuss innovative approaches to the planning, operation, and development of commuter and regional rail services.

Designed to combine strategic insights with practical experience, the three-day training course covers key topics including governance, operations, customer experience, multimodal integration, digitalisation, sustainability, and emerging mobility trends. Participants will also benefit from directly interacting with leading experts and networking opportunities with peers from across the international railway community.

The 2026 edition will be organised in cooperation with Catalan Government Railways (FGC), and with the support of Hitachi Rail, McKinsey & Company and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, who will provide further expertise through their presentations and case studies.

Participants can still take advantage of the early bird registration fee, which will be available until 4 September 2026.
