The 25th Air Transport Research Society World Conference (ATRS) 2022 took place last week in Antwerp, Belgium in a hybrid format (online & on-site).

The Modus project was represented with two addresses, with both being based on the project work’s results. Ulrike Schmalz from Bauhaus Luftfahrt gave the first talk on the development of multimodal air-rail scenarios, which were developed to outline future transport scenarios within Europe and to show possible pathways.

Isabelle Laplace from ENAC gave the second talk on measuring the demand drivers between air and rail transport.

The first results from the model show that passengers have different sensitivities regarding the price of travelling, while the model also maps the extent to which fares can change market shares between air and rail.

The Modus project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme on the topic SESAR-ER4-10-2019 ATM Role in Intermodal Transport under grant agreement No 891166. It started in June 2020 and will run until November 2022.
