During 2015 statutory assemblies and security congress, UIC decided to launch an additional program on security in 2016-2017. The first security week was held on 20-24 June and the second Security Week was organized on 18-19 October to discuss the first results. The final results of the additional programme were presented during the third security week on 6-9 June 2017.
An awareness day on Rail Security was also organised on the 8 June 2017.

The third UIC security week was addressed only to UIC members and partners.
